The Broad Family

The basalt Broad Family sculpture initially seems to take on the shape of a bit of British costal wilderness, challenging the stultifying planned environment of Exchange Square, a financial quarter sitting on the north eastern edge of The City. The irony is of course that whilst taking a supposedly wild form, and challenging its environment, the sculpture and its out of placeness is just as planned as the paving stones most are oblivious to. On a more human level the sculpture created by Catalan Xavier Corbero depicts three atomised family members and a dog, together but separated.
