Bishopsgate, City of London
@www.ravishlondon.com

Bishopsgate is one of the main arteries running north to south in the City of London and is named after one of the gates of the old London Wall.

It marks the beginning of Ermine Street an old Roman road that runs north to Lincoln and York.

In 1993 the street became the site of an IRA bomb attack, which went off on a Saturday morning, when most City workers were at home. The bomb was reputed to have caused one billion pounds worth of damage, and tore out the glass from all the surrounding buildings, and completely destroyed a local church called St.Ethelburg's.

The street is now home to the main London offices of several major banks.
