Jubilee Gardens, City of London
@www.ravishlondon.com

This garden, which was opened to celebrate the majesty's silver jubilee, is a concrete monstrosity, the worst in British urban planning, and a complete insult to the Queen.

The sign which greets you says, 'It was refurbished in 2004 with more structured planting to reflect the outlines of the hard landscaping and surrounding buildings'. Did anyone suggest that it wouldn’t be a sin to challenge rather than reflect the surrounding shit.

Given that it contains no inherent attractive features, it is a virtual no-man’s land, and so tends to attract shy and retiring city types and street drinkers. Some should open up a sandwich shop nearby and sell cans of cider wrapped in paper bags on the side.

On the one occasion I paid it much attention I saw two drunkards, a man and a woman, and couldn’t tell if they were arguing with each other, or whether the man was trying to seduce the woman. It’s that kind of place.

Piss-head park would be a much better name.

I wonder how many times the Queen's come back here to reminisce about her first twenty-five years of marriage. The whole place should be demolished.
