Royal Courts of Justice
@www.ravishlondon.com

The Royal Courts of Justice, opened in1882 by Queen Victoria, are the permanent home of the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court was established by the Judicature Acts of 1873-75, and consists of two courts, the High Court of Justice, the Court of Appeal and the Crown Court.

Only the High Court of Justice and the Court of Appeal sit in the Royal Courts of Justice.

The High Court deals with civil disputes.

The buildings of the Royal Courts of Justice were not without their problems. The company contracted to carry out the work responded to a strike of masons by bringing in European workers, who had to be protected by the police from the strikers.
